Honorary Freedom of the Parish
Wilmington Parish Council
At the Meeting of the Council held on 5th July 223 it was unanimously agreed to grant the Freedom of the Parish to the Family of the Late and former Councillor Ann Allen MBE and former Councillor Derek Hunnisett.
Both Derek and Ann served the residents of the Parish over many years with not only boundless enthusiasm and energy but also exceptional dedication.
Granting the Freedom of the Parish is the highest honour that Wilmington Parish Council can bestow and, although it carries no powers, tights or privileges, it is a recognition of the services the recipient has given to enhance the lives of the residents of the Parish and to protect the feeling of belonging to a rural community rather than simply being part of an urban sprawl.
(The procedure for the granting of the Freedom of the Parish was conducted in accordance with Section 249(5) of the Local Government Act 1972 as amended by Section 29 of the Local Democracy, Economic and Construction Act 200)
