The Parish Council's concern that when The Orange Tree closed its doors some months ago it would become a derelict eyesore proved to be unfounded following a £200,00 refurbishment.

The Orange Tree reopened to customers a month ago but the 'official launch' took place more recently on 1st May. At the event Shepherd Neame's Chief Executive, Jonathan Neame, praised all those who were involved in the extensive but sympathetic renovation of the building adding 'We are really pleased with the pub's new look and hope this will become a real centre of the community for all ages to come together'.

Parish Councillor David Mann, who attended the launch on behalf of the Council, said 'It was a pleasure to attend the grand reopening of a pub that has welcomed the community for many years. The recent refurbishment has provided a pleasant and enjoyable environment'.

The Parish Council wishes the new licencees, local residents Paul Silk Sleafer and Arnie Johnson, every success in their new venture.

Do not forget that the Parish Council's area also boasts four other pubs that, like The Orange Tree, look forward to welcoming you - The Cressy Arms, The Plough, The Horse and Groom and The Ship.
